2) what do babies aborted (many of whom might have led a normal healthy life, and some of whom might have contributed much to the society like many scientists, doctors, engineers ....) prove?.

Good point John_Mann. The org loves Hus, Tyndale, Wycliffe and even Isaac Newton. But I never heard or read where Calvin or Luther were put in a favorable light with the org. Luther and Calvin were reformers too, were they not?

Londo111, I guess you're right. The org would bring up these men from time to time. But never like they did in the broadcast.
How come the org doesn't talk about that 12th century monk who invented the name "Jehovah"? Surely he was a "predecessor of truth".

I always knew that the org held men like Tyndale, John Hus and John Wycliffe in high regard. But in the broadcast, it almost sounded like the org was trying to make him sound like he worshipped “the true god”. Certainly Tyndale knew that the name “Jehovah” was a creation of a medieval monk centuries earlier. I feel that this is just another example of the org trying to make things fit.
my wife is still nominally in, but only because it "makes me (her) happy".
there is nothing academic about her beliefs and when i try, she interprets me as negative.. but then she cusses like a sailor and watches certain movies with me.
her birthday is coming up and it's also right around valentine's day.
Absolutely. My wife is still in but I took her to a nice restaurant on Valentine's Day last year and she loved it.
recently went to a witness wedding, and after the vows the bride and groom were introduced as "brother and sister".....(then last name).....(then the big kiss).
this is likely not unusual (i've heard it before), but with lots of "worldly" people in attendance it seems out of place to me.. i was just wondering if that's the way it is most places?.

this is a little long, but stick with me.. if you recall, when the building work was in full swing at the new lakefront villa (warwick), wt was having workers come and they would put them up for a year, or more, while they were providing "volunteer services".
with that, and the impending need for hundreds and hundreds of new khs in the usa territory, the congregations were abuzz with the need for "continued construction volunteers".
recently, as many of you know, wt headquarters has sent pretty much everyone home, and is no longer needing workers at the new warwick site, as the building is mostly complete, with the dedication coming up later this year.
The Watchtower is like any other corporation. They will use and abuse you. Then when you are not needed anymore, they will drop you the first chance they get.
Strangely, I am having a hard time feeling sorry for the folks sold everything and did not have a "what if" plan.
